Volunteer High School Soccer Coach - Job Description
Position: Volunteer High School Soccer Coach
Location: Boone High School
Reports to: Athletic Director/Head Coach
Commitment: Flexible
Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Volunteer High School Soccer Coach to join our coaching staff. Head Coach Johnston and Assistant Coach Hicks both bring a vast amount of experience to coaching and organizational management.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the game of soccer, the ability to teach skills, strategies, and sportsmanship, and a desire to help young athletes grow both on and off the field. As a volunteer coach, you will assist in providing a positive and safe environment for student-athletes while fostering a love for the game.
Responsibilities:
Assist the head coach in planning, organizing, and executing practices and training sessions.
Provide individual and team instruction to improve players' skills, technique, and understanding of the game.
Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that encourages teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
Attend all practices, games, and team events as scheduled.
Support game day operations, including setting up equipment, managing substitutions, and providing in-game coaching.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes during practices, games, and travel.
Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, and other coaching staff.
Adhere to school policies, rules, and regulations as well as league and state athletic association guidelines.
Serve as a role model for student-athletes in behavior, attitude, and sportsmanship.
Qualifications:
Previous coaching experience or strong knowledge of soccer (experience working with high school athletes is a plus).
Ability to demonstrate and teach soccer skills and strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, positivity, and the ability to work well with teenagers.
Ability to commit to the team's schedule, including practices, games, and tournaments.
Understanding of and commitment to upholding safety standards in a sports environment.
Ability to pass a background check, in accordance with school policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
Must possess a coaching authorization prior to volunteer coaching.
Previous experience as a player or coach at the high school or collegiate level.
Must complete Boone Community Schools Volunteer Form on the website and pass a background check.
Must complete an interview with the Activities Director
