Position Information:
Boone County Family Resources is a rapidly growing community-based agency committed to supporting Boone County residents with developmental disabilities.
We are seeking a qualified candidate for a Maintenance Technician to work in a friendly and vibrant work environment maintaining properties owned and managed by Boone County Family Resources, which includes one new main office building and 60 apartments. We are looking for a reliable, skilled and organized individual who is detailed oriented, capable of prioritizing tasks, and working with a high level of efficiency to join our busy maintenance staff. If you have exceptional maintenance and repair, communication and customer service skills, and a drive to work in a fast-paced environment then you may be the perfect fit.
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday – Friday, with a rotating on-call schedule for evenings and weekends
Minimum Qualifications:
Have a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate
Have at least two years of experience with repair and installation of basic plumbing and electrical, appliances, drywall repair, painting, carpentry, and other general repairs
Have the ability to work on-call and respond within 1 hour, in the Columbia, Missouri area, at all hours of the day/night according to the on-call rotation schedule for evenings, weekends, and holidays
Have a valid driver’s license
Have knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
Have a high level of critical thinking/problem-solving skills to diagnose issues and recommend solutions
Have the ability to follow oral and written instructions
Have the ability to manage time and projects to ensure completion in the allotted time
Have the ability to operate with a sense of urgency
Be a self-starter with the ability to work independently
Have the ability to use a computer and other technology as needed in the performance of daily tasks to maintain schedule, accurate service ticket notes, system updates, inspections, etc.
Successfully complete, maintain, and apply required training and certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities that may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:
Mechanical - Knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Considerable knowledge of practices, tools, and equipment associated with one or more trades, such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, appliance repair, or HVAC. Considerable knowledge of and ability to use standard hand and power tools and equipment used in facilities and grounds maintenance activities, including safe operating procedures.
Building and Construction - Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of apartments, buildings, fences, or other similar structures.
Customer Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. Ability to clearly communicate with vendors, staff, and supervisors. Ability to work cooperatively with others.
Safety and Security - Considerable knowledge of safety standards and precautions pertaining to maintenance and repair work. Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures.
Physical Demands
Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the ability to stoop, crawl, bend, and climb stairs or ladders to evaluate various property maintenance issues.
The typical duties listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. The primary duties for the Maintenance Technician will be to assist the Property & Facilities Manager in maintaining the appearance of all properties as well as keeping all properties in proper state of repair.
Typical Duties:
Problem solve issues
Build, repair, or replace doors, windows, walls, ceilings, and floor planks or tiles, install cove base trim, replace door handles
Perform drywall patching and painting work: patch holes or cracks in drywall, apply knock-down, paint
Perform electrical and plumbing work: install or replace fixtures, switches, receptacles, and wiring; and repair faucets, commodes, water heaters, and valves
Repair appliances
Maintain repair cracks on sidewalks and parking lot surfaces
Repaint curbs and parking lot markings
Paint or stain decks, posts, and fences
Pressure washing
Maintain landscaping
Maintain organization, cleanliness, and curb appeal of Agency properties
Set up and breakdown for events, including moving tables and chairs for large meeting rooms as needed
