What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Parks Natural Areas Technician position at Boone County Fiscal Court?
Boone County Fiscal Court is now hiring for a seasonal Conservation Technician in the Parks Department. This is a seasonal benefit that has no fringe benefits. The starting wage is $15.00-$17.00 per hour depending on experience.
This position is 30-40 hours per week. Work hours depending on assigned duties and can potentially include weekend and evening availability, if needed.
This position is seasonal with Boone County Parks. The incumbent will conduct habitat restoration work on public lands throughout Boone County. They will be Seasonal, part-time employees of Boone County Parks. The position will be located in Burlington, Kentucky with frequent travel throughout the county.
The incumbent will assist with all aspects of habitat restoration projects. Major responsibilities include:
- Non-native and invasive species removal using herbicides, hand tools, and gas-operated equipment
- Trail maintenance and improvements to natural-terrain hiking trails
- Habitat management of natural areas
- Public outreach through programs and events
- Monitoring and assessment of natural areas for native and invasive species of interest
- Lead volunteers assisting in Natural Areas projects and clean-ups
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- A basic understanding of environmental or natural resource science
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent verbal/written communication and organizational skills.
Successful applicants must also be able to acquire an Herbicide Applicator’s License
