Position Summary :
Performs a variety of administrative and secretarial functions in support of the County Commissioners' Office, County Attorney and the Auditor's Office.
Essential Employee :

Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Commissioners' Office and the Redevelopment Commission. Receives and assists visitors, answers the telephone, handles public records requests, receives and forwards tort / insurance claims, schedules meetings, handles complaints, responds to routine inquiries and forwards those inquiries as appropriate to the Commissioners or other departments.
Prepares and submits claims for payment for the Commissioners, County Attorney, Human Resources, and IT Department. Responsible for the bookkeeping for those mentioned departments.
Works with the County Attorney to ensure all County contracts are properly signed, dated and filed.
Advises the Board when additional appropriations are needed and works with the County Attorney and Auditor's Office to ensure.
Assists in preparing the annual budget for the Commissioners' Office, County Attorney, Human Resources, and IT Department.
Prepares payroll claims for the Commissioners' Office, County Attorney, and Human Resources personnel.
Attends, records, and transcribes, if legally required, Board meetings for the Commissioners and Redevelopment Commission; prepares, transmits and files correspondence for the Board as directed.
Works with the Human Resources Office on the design of benefit programs (insurance, wellness etc.). Informs employees of their benefit options and plans and monitor use. Also works with the Human Resources Office to maintain and update employee records and benefits files (years of service, wages, marital status, dependents, etc.); resolves benefit-related issues and responds to queries and requests in a timely manner.
Collaborates with the Auditor's Office on payroll for payments and deductions.
Performs a variety of general clerical tasks such as filing, copying, faxing and other related tasks. Responsible for all correspondence for the Commissioners and the Redevelopment Commission.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities :
Serves as the Local Public Agency Title VI Coordinator for the County in conjunction with the Indiana Department of Transportation.
Serves as the ADA / Section504 coordinator for the County.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Key Performance Standards :
All work completed is in compliance with state statutes and local ordinances. Follows all County and State regulations regarding the management of accounts.
Ensures all monies are properly accounted for at the end of the day. Meets all deadlines established by state statute, local ordinances and the Board of Commissioners. Meets customer service standards established by the Board of Commissioners. Ensures all correspondence and forms follow County guidelines, are accurate, and free from errors.
Typical Qualifications
Position Qualifications :
High School diploma or GED equivalent; supplemented by 1-2 years previous experience or training involving computers, accounting, bookkeeping and general office work required; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for the job.
