Overview
Job Summary:
The Coordinator, Insurance & Claims, is responsible for Boone Health’s insurance and claims activities, which include, but may not be limited to, coordinating insurance coverage and financing; coordinating claims management; interfacing with insurance brokers, adjusters, finance, facilities, legal counsel and other key stakeholders; and administering the insurance and claims program on a day-to-day basis.
Job Responsibilities:
- Claims management: Actively works with insurance brokers, adjusters, legal counsel and involved colleagues in investigating and assembling facts, determining policy coverage, evaluating the extent of loss, analyzing legal liability and supporting defense strategies. In litigated claims, assists Risk Management in working toward resolution of claims, obtaining witness statements, producing documents and creating reports. Handles multi-line property and casualty claims, coordinates with involved stakeholders to ensure timely capture of information related to events; prepares documents; and processes claims.
- Loss prevention: Maintains familiarity with insurance coverage, policies, endorsements and forms. Organizes and prepares educational content on relevant healthcare loss prevention strategies for key stakeholders. Oversees data analysis for the loss control program. Prepares reports as needed.
- Regulation and Accreditation Compliance: Manages the regulatory requirements pertaining to insurance, with the objective of minimizing loss to protect the assets of Boone Health, along with maintaining patient and employee safety, and enhancing quality care.
- Insurance Financing: Reviews and analyses policies; collaborates with broker and other key stakeholders in formulating recommendations for purchase of insurance coverage; participates in annual budget process to summarize prior year’s insurance and claims expenditures, and forecast upcoming needs; completes insurance applications; gathers, organizes and submits documents required to support insurance applications; oversees the accurate processing of insurance invoices to ensure timely payments; resolves problems associated with policy issuance; maintains organized and accurate filing systems; participates in preparing financial analyses of Boone Health’s insurance program for other team members, as needed.

- Degree: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
