Pharmacy Technician

Boone Memorial Health is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our Retail Pharmacy team. This position offers the opportunity to serve in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment, where you'll provide top-notch pharmacy services to our community. The Pharmacy Technician will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to assist in the preparation and dispensation of medications and provide excellent customer service.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Prepare medication orders for final check by the pharmacist

• Accurately input prescription data and maintain patient profiles, including demographic and allergy information

• Provide prompt and friendly customer service at the counter, drive-thru, and via telephone

• Collaborate with BMH providers and support staff to enhance pharmacy services

• Maintain an organized pharmacy, including regular stock checks and ensuring medications are not expired

• Replenish supplies such as vials, labels, and paper receipts

• Process drug orders using Cardinal Order Express and receive orders into inventory both digitally and physically

• Operate the cash register with accuracy, ensuring HIPAA compliance

• Assist with physical inventory of pharmacy stock

• Maintain pharmacy records and organize them as needed

• Use CPSI to gather demographic and insurance information for patients

• Complete annual Paycom Learning requirements

• Aid housekeeping staff in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the pharmacy

• Help process employee prescriptions as permitted by State Board of Pharmacy regulations

Other Duties:

• Ensure timely and friendly customer interaction by assisting with phone calls, orders, and picking up and delivering prescriptions when needed

• Assist in training new pharmacy staff or interns as directed

• Keep pharmacy publications updated and maintain bulletin boards

• Participate in regular pharmacy staff meetings and educational sessions

• Restock floor stock drugs to designated areas such as ER and Nurses Stations

• Credit patients for returned medications and return relabeled medications to the shelves

• Help with the preparation of controlled substances documentation

• Assist with preventative and corrective maintenance of pharmacy equipment when needed

• Acknowledge hospital employees or visitors at the door in a timely and courteous manner

• Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)

Required Education & Credentials:

• Must possess a valid, active, unrestricted pharmacy technician license with the WV Board of Pharmacy

• High school diploma or equivalent required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Retail pharmacy experience

• National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform various motor skills such as hand-eye coordination, sitting or standing for long periods of time, walking, lifting (up to 20 pounds), climbing stairs, reaching, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, squatting, grasping, and arm-hand coordination on a continuous basis

• Must be able to view and look at computer screens for long periods of time
