What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Support Interventionist position at Boone Winnebago Regional Office of Education?

The Regional Office of Education has the opportunity to serve the communities of Boone and Winnebago Counties. Student Support Services is a dedicated team of trained professionals that works alongside schools to meet the needs of the students and families in order to return them to the classroom full-time.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree in education or related field.
- Current Substitute Teaching license or the ability to obtain.
- Ability to work both independently as well as in a team environment.
- Must pass State of Illinois and FBI criminal background checks.
- Licensed to drive and have a reliable vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of local social service agencies.
- Knowledge of prevention strategies and treatment modalities.
- Background working with youth/families.
- Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL).
- Ability to read, write and speak Spanish is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Provide Academic, Behavior, SEL, and Attendance support.
- Bridge the gap between home and school.
- Support school/staff decisions.
- Collaborate with school staff.
- Hold a caseload of 30 students.
- Monitor attendance and behavior of students referred by schools.
- Facilitate the development of IOEP (Individual Optional Education Plan) and goals with the student, parent, school, and caseworkers.
- Keep accurate records and provide reports.
- Evaluate students for participation in and referral to student support groups both in school and in the community, as well as verifying participation.
- Participate in program activities.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Participate in appropriate community groups.
- Attend court dates related to students on caseload.
- Other duties as assigned by the director.
Working Conditions:
- Have a very high level of social interaction, will work with many teams
- Communicate with people face-to face, by phone, virtually, and via email on a daily basis
- Work effectively and efficiently in an open office environment
- This position may require the employee to be available to work unconventional hours beyond the normal duty day which could result in a work week beyond 40 hours.
- The employee should be prepared for this position to become fast-paced and high-stressed depending upon work-load requirements and deadlines
- 180-Day Contract
