Summary Description:
Operates one (1) or more types of grinding and cutting equipment in removing undesirable projections or surplus metal (fins, burrs, parting lines, flashing, gates, and risers) from sand castings to meet customers specifications and quality levels.
Schedule :
Monday - Friday 7am -3:30pm with occasional overtime when necessary.
Essential Functions:
- Operate stationary belt grinder, air tools, air power vice, small cut off wheel grinder
- Use of a variety of hand tools including hammers, cold chisels, and files
- Follows shop card instructions to perform grinding operation by: Removing, either through cutting, grinding, the flashings, gate contacts, parting lines, molding defects from castings
- Ensure all castings are ground to customers/shop cards specifications
- Report accurate casting quantities for each work order in Odyssey
- When job is completed, place corresponding shop card in each basket(s) and place completed castings back into basket(s)
- Return all scrap to designated area at inspection with proper shop card
- Replace belts, wheels, bits, pins, etc. as required
- Maintains and cleans all equipment and work area
- Perform any and all other job-related tasks as assigned
- Carries out all duties and responsibilities in full accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures
Skills or Experience Required:
High School diploma or GED; experience in a foundry or manufacturing environment is preferred.

Computer and communication skills are necessary. Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Physical work includes:

LIFTING DEMANDS:

- Carry up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis less than 25 feet
- Push/pull up to 30 lb. molds waist to chest level to/from the grinding wheel on a frequent basis
