Key Role:
Support federal health research and development (R&D) organizations, including the Advanced Research Projects Agency – Health (ARPA-H), as a Technical Science, Engineering, and Technology Adviser (SETA) for programs related to indoor air quality biosurveillance and airborne disease prevention. Apply scientific subject matter and health market knowledge to help conceptualize, create, and execute advanced government-funded R&D programs to accelerate better health outcomes for everyone. Characterize the state of a technical field, including identifying state-of-the-art technologies and promising new approaches. Perform analyses to recommend ambitious technology performance and cost targets that are on the cutting edge of what might be achievable. Identify key technical experts across academia, industry, and national labs, perform technical outreach, and facilitate the formation of new multi-disciplinary technical communities. Review highly technical proposals and support negotiations of selected projects, including advising on project plans and technical milestones for complex R&D projects. Perform direct and periodic technical oversight of the project portfolio, from set-up to close-out, and assist the client with managing projects to achieve clear and compelling outcomes.
Basic Qualifications:
5 years of experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences on research
1 years of experience in postdoctoral, academic, or industry roles
Ability to ask insightful questions that challenge traditional thinking
Ability to obtain a security clearance
Doctorate's degree
Additional Qualifications:
Experience with environmental molecular diagnostics and multiplex nucleic acid detection techniques, including CRISPR-based approaches and biosurveillance
Experience with advanced bioinformatics tools and public health data analytics, including forecasting and predictive modeling, complex systems science, and statistical ecology
Experience with wastewater or bioaerosol epidemiology
Experience in a consulting environment
Ability to develop and convey meaningful insights, significant contributions, and recommendations to address complex client issues
Ability to learn, grow, and develop new skill sets
Ability to display creativity and resourcefulness
Possession of excellent data gathering, analytical, problem-solving, and client service skills
Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
Doctorate's degree in Molecular Biology, Genomics, Bioengineering, Microbiology, Epidemiology, Synthetic Biology, Systems Biology, Biochemistry, or Chemical Engineering

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $93,300.00 to $212,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.Work Model
