Here, you’ll advance your consulting skills to design, develop, produce, and consult on a variety of internal and external communication materials and media that supports national security.
As a communications action officer on our team, you’ll closely impact the development of creative solutions to complex problems. Your self-guided yet collaborative spirit will shape and nurture relationships with team members, stakeholders, and clients to develop strategic communications plans and strategies. You’ll provide analysis to support the development and implementation of Department of Defense (DoD) and other federal agencies’ strategy and policy. You’ll analyze risk-based strategies for legislative processes and planning, analyze and track metrics for strategy implementation, and provide analysis to identify, define, and close requirements using the legislative process.
As a collaborator on all aspects of verbal and written communications, you’ll author press release, speeches, talking points, social media content, and other public affairs. Your creative-thinking and business-oriented mindset will guide your client to inform key audiences through words, images, and sound with tools like media intelligence platforms such as Cision or Meltwater.

You Have:
- 3 years of experience with strategic communication and planning
- Experience with media landscape, stakeholder research, and policy analysis
- Experience with regular direct client interactions, including supporting project delivery, delivering presentations, leading client meetings, and working independently, creatively, and analytically in a problem-solving environment
- Experience developing talking points and briefing reports
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite programs, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of communication strategies
- Ability to track and comprehend acquisition and procurement goals as they move through the legislative cycle and plan, organize, and execute tasks with minimal direction
- Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s degree
Nice If You Have:
- Experience working as a Press Secretary, Public Affairs Specialist or Officer, communications lead, or social media lead in a congressional office or federal agency
- Experience with U.S. domestic or foreign nation policies
- Experience with speech writing
- Experience working as a DoD or U.S. Department of State Public Affairs Officer or with media and news outlets
- Knowledge of AP writing style
- Ability to use Adobe Creative Suite software, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
- Top Secret clearance

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $54,000.00 to $123,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
