What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Engineer position at Boralex?
⚡ You will play an important role in:
Under supervision from the team leader and supported by the existing 5-person team, your challenges will include:
Assimilate, apply and promote Boralex’ s occupational health and safety culture
Lead technical projects from proposal to commissioning:
Major equipment fleet modernization
Improvement, optimization or reliability
Corrective or preventive interventions
Provide technical council to guide site teams at the collector, substation and interconnexion levels
Develop, propose and execute solutions to electrical challenges faced by our assets
Coordinate external resources (outsourcing) and remote teams in a matrix format
Participate in conferences, webinars and training to carry out a market technological watch
Support due diligence teams during acquisition projects (M&A)
Share operational experience with the Greenfield development team
💡 To succeed in this position, you need:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
8 years of experience in high voltage, protection and control
Hands-on and onsite experience
Knowledge of the US Energy markets and regulations where Boralex is present
Fluency in English (oral and written)
Driver's license and passport for occasional travel (up to 20% of the time)
Resourcefulness and autonomy
Preferred additional qualifications:
Experience in renewable energy operations
Graduate studies or certification in project management (PMP, CAPM, MBA…)
Understanding of NERC reliability standards (PRC, BAL, MOD)
Experience in modeling and simulations (Easypower, ETAP, EMTP)
Programming knowledge (Control Expert, Quickset, RTAC, SMP)
