What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Analyst position at Boralex?
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, M&A North America.
⚡ You will play an important role in:
Financial Modeling & Valuation:
Utilize financial modeling tools to screen potential M&A opportunities, joint ventures, and asset dispositions, assessing project valuations in line with Boralex’s investment criteria.
Manage and update financial models across all stages of M&A transactions, joint ventures, and divestitures.
Adapt existing financial models to project-specific requirements and transaction structures.
Transaction Execution & Due Diligence:
Collaborate with subject matter experts (finance, accounting, tax, engineering, construction, legal, operations) to ensure financial models properly reflect due diligence findings for acquisitions, joint ventures, and divestitures.
Support the due diligence process by collecting and analyzing financial, operational, and market data from target companies and potential partners.
Coordinate with external advisors, including investment banks, legal firms, and technical consultants, during M&A, joint venture, and disposition processes.
Market & Strategic Analysis:
Conduct market analysis on macroeconomic and regional trends, including the impact of tax law changes, interest rate fluctuations, and inflation on project viability.
Provide insights on renewable energy trends and regulatory developments in Canada and the US to support M&A, joint venture, and asset sale strategies.
Investment Committee & Bid Support:
Assist in the preparation of materials for Investment Committee review and present financial results to senior management for M&A deals, joint venture agreements, and asset dispositions.
Support bid submissions, transaction execution, and deal closings across various transaction types.
Contribute to the continued development of internal financial models to enhance efficiency and accuracy in assessing acquisitions, partnerships, and divestitures.
💡 To succeed in this position, you need:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in financial modeling within power, utilities, renewable energy, M&A, or project finance.
Strong proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and project finance structures related to M&A, joint ventures, and asset sales.
Ability to manipulate and adapt existing financial models to specific transaction structures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
A keen interest in renewable energy trends and developments in Canada and the US.
Understanding of key industry drivers, regulatory frameworks, and market dynamics relevant to acquisitions, joint ventures, and asset sales.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; bilingual in French preferred.
Ability to present complex technical topics to both internal and external audiences, including stakeholders involved in M&A, joint ventures, and asset divestitures.
Experience working on large projects with multiple stakeholders under tight timelines.
