What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager - Interconnection position at Boralex?
⚡ You will play an important role in:
Reporting to the Senior Director, interconnection, you will be responsible for managing the interconnection process from completion of utility studies through commercial operation with respect to the engineering, procurement, and construction of the utility interconnection for renewable energy and storage projects. You are someone who stands out for your interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate, as well as having a technical understanding of the technical requirements for interconnting to local transmission owner’s facilities. As part of the Boralex renewable energy project development activities, you will have the following responsibilities:
Manage utility processes, timelines and relationships during the Engineering Procurement and Construction of North American projects.
Experience in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction management of utility scale renewable energy projects.
Work with Boralex Interconnection Engineering to review plan sets and ensure that EPC contractor plans meet utility requirements.
Manage communication between EPC Contractor and the Utilities & ISOs during the execution phase.
Organize storage of all relevant documents and communications.
Perform site visits and report on issues specific to the interconnection facilities.
Track utility scope and schedules to maintain interconnection deadlines.
Manage utility testing and commissioning of the interconnection facility.
Create relationships that encourage collaboration and respect with the Utilities and ISO.
Manage Electric utility Easements and Encroachments for interconnection facilities and access roads.
Manage Metering process.
Manage Telecommunications service.
Responsible for managing the Interconnection process from the Interconnection Agreement, through Engineering, Construction, Commissioning and COD.
This team will work heavily with the Boralex Interconnection Engineering and the Contracted EPC Engineering team to review EPC project documents and ensure everything is up to the applicable CTO codes & standards.
This position will include 25% travel in North America.
💡 To succeed in this position, you need:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with training or experience in Interconnection Management;
More than 5 years of relevant experience in managing interconnection process in U.S. energy markets;
Experience in major project development, an asset;
Extensive analysis capacities, decision-making ability, prioritization and organizational skills;
Diligence, summarizing skills, group influence and teamwork skills.
