The Administrative and Medical Support Assistant plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of daily administrative and medical support functions at our behavioral health agency. This position provides direct support to clinical staff, facilitates patient scheduling, manages documentation, and assists with general office duties to enhance efficiency and patient care.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Greet and check in patients, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment.
- Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls/messages appropriately.
- Manage appointment scheduling, provider availability, and patient reminders.
- Assist with verifying insurance eligibility, obtaining authorizations, and processing payments.
- Assist in coordinating referrals, medical records requests, and correspondence with other healthcare providers.
- Monitor compliance with agency policies, HIPAA regulations, and other behavioral health guidelines.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred).
- Experience in a behavioral health, medical, or administrative setting preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in EHR systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and behavioral health policies is a plus.
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
