Job Summary
Leads and supervises the Quotations department. Identifies and notifies Quotations staff of upcoming projects or jobs. Oversees the schedule of jobs being bid, accuracy of database on current projects, and assures required specifications are met for all jobs in progress. Supervises and may perform takeoff of bids. Oversees and may participate in the completion of the quotation process for each assigned project, market or location. Oversees or participates in obtaining orders and providing sales support for the outside sales force. Negotiates with vendors for best pricing and best delivery of products to customers and/or jobsites. Ensures staff is actively participating in coordinating, analyzing, and acting upon information and feedback of customer needs, pricing, products, competition, and procedures.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Works closely with BSE’s sales and marketing staff to promote sales and to meet and exceed sales and gross profit objectives.
- Identifies and notifies Quotations staff of upcoming projects or jobs.
- Oversees the schedule of jobs being bid, accuracy of database on current projects, and assures required specifications are met for all jobs in progress.
- Supervises and may perform takeoff of bids that could include products such as motor control centers, motor drives, control components, fixtures, lighting, lamps, dimming systems, switchgear, duct systems, apparatus and specialty equipment.
- Oversees and may participate in the completion of the quotation process for each assigned project, market or location.
- Oversees or participates in obtaining orders and providing sales support for the outside sales force.
- Provides customers with timely follow-up on technical inquiries and requests.
- Oversees the close-out of completed job files.
- Negotiates with vendors for best pricing and best delivery of products to customers and/or jobsites.
- Provides consistent, responsive, quality service to our customers.
- Ensures staff is actively participating in coordinating, analyzing, and acting upon information and feedback of customer needs, pricing, products, competition, and procedures.
- Supervises and oversees the efforts of the Quotations staff to work with the Customer Financial Services to resolve customer-billing problems resulting from errors in the quotations process, pricing, shipping, deliver or other customer service/credit areas.
- Ensures the Quotations team is performing the appropriate SAP functions so the department runs as efficiently and accurately as possible.
- Close out projects for final billing to customers in a timely manner along with credits and over billing issues.
Non-essential Functions

- Provides input and market intelligence, as required.
- May place orders and hold orders on secured projects, prepare submittal drawings, and release hold orders after submittal approval.
- May develop quotations and request bid/performance bonds for customers within company profit objectives and guidelines.
- Provides guidance in purchasing functions, product evaluations and code descriptions, inventory management, pricing development, and other related services, as needed.
- Attends sales meetings and training programs, as needed.
- Participates in sales meetings and trade shows, as needed.
