Job Summary
Executes strategic pricing and cost management excellence related to specific locations within an assigned region. Manages, analyzes, and monitors pricing to assist the region in meeting its strategic and financial goals. Aligns regional pricing activities with overall pricing strategy and implements strategic plans and activities.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Pricing Analysis
Analyzes and optimizes pricing related to: local market conditions, special vendor and/or customer scenarios.
Monitors exceptions related to price erosion and price adherence and drives improvement through root cause analysis, recommendation and implementation of improvement plans and/or activities
Ensures customer price consistency, confidence, and profitability related to:
Market price relevance
Multiple branch locations
Special price agreements
SKUs with low and negative gross margin
Vendor price changes
Determines price management tactics with sales leadership (regions/branches), price strategy (corporate), and marketing managers (corporate) to make recommendations for price changes within the customer/product price matrix based on value and competitive positioning.
Participates in a monthly vital factor process to assess progress and determine focus areas.
Communicates vital factor information and other key findings to corporate pricing team in a summary fashion each quarter.
Provides actionable reporting and recommendations to optimize and improve profitability, as needed.
Communication/Support/Training
Increases pricing awareness for Branch Managers, Account Managers, and CSRs through communication, training and reporting.
Provides pricing consultation to branches and acts as a primary contact point within the assigned region.
Engages branches to identify key pricing issues and facilitate effective two-way communication between branches and centralized pricing teams.
Actively participates in cost management activities, especially gathering, organizing, and communicating feedback.
Develops and coordinates pricing plans and activities with branch and regional personnel that align with their annual strategic and financial goals.
Drives pricing performance improvement by coordinating and facilitating regular review of key metrics with branches in the region
Maintains a consistent physical presence in each branch throughout the region.
Attends all regional managers’ meetings and will provide needed procurement updates or strategy changes.
Works directly with the corporate pricing teams to ensure that commercial direction of each branch is reflected in our open market pricing strategies.
Shares relevant pricing feedback and market trends with corporate pricing teams and other regions
Collaborates with branch, regional and corporate sales, marketing and procurement personnel in an effort to assemble market price level intelligence, collects competitive feedback and drives necessary price aggregation improvements.
Non-essential Functions
Maintains basic branch and customer level sell price information within SAP with support from and coordinated with centralized price strategy team.
Assists branches with customer price files as needed
Coordinates Customer Price List reviews with branches
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or designate.
Qualifications
Minimum of four-year engineering, sales, marketing, technical or business degree preferred or the equivalent in work experience.
Minimum of three years’ prior procurement, sales, or marketing experience with good knowledge of electrical, utility, industrial or communication wiring products and systems preferred.
Prefer strong working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Access). Internet, email and SAP software knowledge preferred.
Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
Prefer strong working knowledge of PC for Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint, and Outlook), Internet, and SAP software.
