The Customs Entry Specialist will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of customs entries for imports into the U.S. and Canada. This role involves tariff classification, customs compliance, and effective communication with clients and regulatory agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit customs entries in compliance with U.S. and Canadian Customs regulations.
- Classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Canadian Customs Tariff codes.
- Monitor shipments for customs clearance and provide regular updates to clients.
- Resolve customs-related issues, including documentation discrepancies, holds, and inspections.
- Communicate effectively with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies in both countries.
- Ensure all required documentation, such as commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and permits, is accurate and complete.
- Stay informed on changes to customs regulations, trade agreements, and tariff structures for both U.S. and Canada.
- Assist with internal and external audits related to customs compliance.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in customs brokerage, logistics, or a related field with experience handling both U.S. and Canadian customs entries.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, CBP systems, Canadian Customs regulations, and CBSA systems.
- Proficiency in tariff classification, customs software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
