Position Summary

Collaborate with engineers to create electro-mechanical product designs and technical documentation needed for concepts, prototypes, fabrication, production and support. This includes creating drawings, models and assemblies of structures, systems, components or equipment from sketches or marked up prints.

Job Functions / Duties (may be assigned other duties by management)

Perform CAD design work using Creo (Pro-E) and Windchill PDMlink database

Prepare models and detail drawings from sketches, redlines and engineering notes (Drawings will be laid out well, clear and contain necessary specifications, dimensions and notes for manufacturing purposes. Drawings require thorough review.)

Ensure form, fit and function of new and existing designs. Perform typical tolerance stack up analysis

Calculate standard dimensions, angles and other details as needed for design and production drawings

Complete Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) including BOM, model and drawings (from, but not limited to, drawings based on sketches, notes, marked up drawings, and verbal instruction)

Work with engineers, technicians, product managers and administrative personnel to accomplish assigned tasks

Use fundamental design tools such as threaded connections, seals, plated surfaces, heat treating, etc.

Interpret and use ANSI drafting standards and GD&T

Review work to ensure accuracy and completeness

Work independently with occasional assistance from supervisor, as well as, work in a team environment (Supervisor provides instructions on new assignments, gives guidance when questions arise, and provides reviews on completed work.)

Personally observe safety and security procedures and proper use of equipment and material. Actively promote safety processes and report any safety issues.

Perform other job-related tasks as identified by supervisor

Qualifications and Required Skills

Associates degree in Design / Drafting or completion of Engineering Technology trade school or a related field

One year related work experience preferred

One year experience with 3D CAD design or equivalent professional training (preferably Creo (Pro-E), Solidworks, AutoCAD Inventor)

Knowledge of fundamental design tools

Knowledge of GD&T standard ASME Y14.5

Experience in product design and the engineering change / revision process

Proficient computer skills (MS Office, E-Mail, and Internet)

Ability to handle multiple projects, simultaneously, with stringent deadlines

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Good analytical skills

Ability to meet deadlines

Excellent attention to details

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Normal office environment and occasional exposure to plant environment during the course of normal job duties

Occasionally required to move about the facility

Use of appropriate PPE, including eye and hearing protection, hard hat and safety shoes while in shop environment
