POSITION SUMMARY
The MRI Technologist at the BG Imaging Center performs imaging scans of patients and assists with the patient flow of the imaging department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Greet patients, and escort them back to the imaging area
- Prepare patients for exams
- Give patients instructions for exams
- Obtain clinical history
- Review lab work and request previous exams when applicable
- Dose the patient accordingly, either orally or obtain IV access, as well as any additional prep the patient may need
- Load and operate the injector
- Scan patients with and without contrast
- Export exams for reconstruction or interpretation
- Learn workstation for reconstruction/post-exam processing
- Prepare/clean imaging area between patients
- Educate patients appropriately
- This job requires access to Personal Health Information (PHI), HIPAA training is required, and HIPAA compliance is expected.
- Must follow the organization’s Code of Conduct
- Must participate in the Compliance Program Initiatives and reporting and Compliance Issues
- Other duties assigned
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and staff both verbally and in writing.
- Works well with patients, physicians, and staff
- Attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Ability to handle patient issues in a tactful, professional way
- Knowledge of computers is highly recommended. This position requires good communication and customer service skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma required.
- Completed certification/degree. CPR certified.
- Previous experience is necessary.
- Must possess current and valid licensure with ARRT.
- Must hold current and valid licensure with the State of Florida Department of Health.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for an extended period of time.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Ability to see within normal parameters.
- Ability to hear within normal range.
- Ability to use hands, arms, and legs within the specifications of the job
- Ability to assist unable patients with movement or transport to and in exam rooms
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
