ELEMENTARY-SECONDARY TEACHER
Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Site Administrator, the elementary/secondary teacher provides an educational program based on the California Standards and Framework for students, grades K-12. In addition, the elementary/secondary teacher provides leadership and supervision and maintains a safe environment where students can learn.
Duties and Responsibilities
?Provides an education program for students, grades K-12, or a combination, thereof, and assist in other school programs, as assigned.;
?Plans standards-based goals and objectives for students;
?Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, handwriting, science, health, art, music, physical education and other appropriate subjects, utilizing the scope and sequence adopted by the Board of Trustees.
?Instruct students in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study specific by state law, administrative regulations and the procedures of the District.;
?Provides planned learning experiences in order to motivate students and utilize instructional time wisely and effectively;
?Develops and uses lesson plans and instructional materials suitable for the verbal and/or visual instruction of the students with a wide range of mental, physical and emotional maturities ;
?Provides individualized and small group instruction, when needed, in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of teach student.;
?Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional, learning atmosphere in the classroom.;
?Evaluates the student’s academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares progress reports, and communicates with parents/guardians on the individual student’s progress through a variety of means throughout the year;
?Holds parent conferences to discuss the student’s progress and interpret the school and class programs;
?Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, personal and learning problems.
?Creates and maintains a functional, effective and attractive environment for learning through displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.;
?Ensures a safe and comfortable classroom environment.
?Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the District and/or professional growth activities.
?Performs basic attendance accounting;
?Participates cooperatively, with the principal, or his/her designee, to mutually develop the system by which he will be evaluated in conformance by the District’s uniform guidelines for evaluation and assessment.
?Selects books, instructional aides and supplies, and maintains required inventory records; Complete requisitions and P.O.’s to obtain supplies and materials;
?Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day;
?Administers group standardized tests, in accordance with the District’s testing program;
?Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school of assignment and/or on a district level;
?Shares in the sponsorship of student activities and participates in faculty committees;
?Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
? Valid California Elementary or Single Subject (secondary) teaching credential, with CLAD.
?Knowledge of child growth and development.
Work Year: 185 days
Salary : $53,808 - $86,946
