Our Jewelry Buyer is responsible for purchasing jewelry merchandise for all channels; ensures sufficient supply of quality merchandise in order to increase sales, control inventory levels, and maintain gross profit margins; And analyzes product assortment based on annual goals. You will be asked to communicate with various team members, customers, and vendors about product information, needs, and trends. The Ideal Candidate Should Have
- Four-year college degree
- 3-4 years of experience buying (luxury product ideal)
- Analytical skills are required
- Graduate Gemology Diploma/Certificate is preferred
- Strategic. Perform a thorough analysis of products and programs to implement effective buying strategies. Determine margins and pricing, analyze product performance to identify trends and opportunities, and determine exit strategies
- Self-Starting. Monitor inventory and manage the purchasing budget. Manage relationships with vendors while coordinating and negotiating with them to purchase merchandise quickly and profitably. Travel to trade shows to view new products, identify industry trends, and develop both new and existing vendor relationships.
- Analytical. Evaluate events, promotions, incentives, and other sales-related programs to determine their effectiveness.
- Detail-Oriented. Monitor merchandise to ensure product assortment and displays maximize sales potential.
- Collaborative. Work closely with team members to plan and coordinate promotions and events, product selection, and advertising for the division. Participate in catalog development by working with the marketing department on product selection, pricing, layout, and vendor negotiations. Assists in the training and development of sales staff to ensure product knowledge. Coordinates and attends product knowledge seminars.
