What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Veterinary Technician position at Bortell Animal Hospital?
Bortell Animal Hospital is seeking a full time or part time Certified Veterinary Technician. We are a small animal integrative care clinic that offers holistic medications, acupuncture, Chinese herbal medications as well as a traditional approach to veterinary medicine. We are a full service veterinary clinic.Our ideal candidate will be a positive, enthusiastic, motivated individual who can thrive in working in a team setting and independently. You will alongside the DVMs, CVTs, and other support staff to provide top notch care to our clients and patients.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
Assists veterinarians during examinations, treatment, and surgeries.
Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
Perform laboratory testing including collecting sample for testing
Venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement
Performing treatment plans under the direction of a veterinarian
Communicate and provide education to pet owners on their pets care
Monitor and assist in surgeries
Clean and maintain clinic including cleaning surgical suite, restocking exam rooms and treatment area, and surgical packs
Qualifications include:
Associates degree from AVMA accredited veterinary technician program
State licensing and able to work as a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT).
Unlicensed individuals will not be considered for this position. Experience a plus but not required, will train the right candidate! New grad welcomed to apply!
We are a privately owned practice, your employer is onsite and provides mentorship. The focus of high quality medicine and creating a bond with clients and the community is of utmost importance. We are located in central Illinois 2 hours south of Chicago and 50 minutes west of Champaign-Urbana.
