Night Shift Forklift Operator

Position Title: Forklift Operator - Shipping Operations

Reports To: Shipping Supervisor

Pay Range: $16.84 - $16.84

The Forklift Operator works as part of the Shipping and Receiving team and is responsible the loading and unloading of product.

Primary Functions:

• Obtaining copies of shipping orders and transporting materials to and from designated areas of warehouse.
• Operating a forklift to load and unload goods from transport vehicles – trucks, etc.
• Moving goods packed on pallets around the storage facility.
• Stacking goods in the correct storage areas, following inventory control instructions.
• Checking that loads are secure.
• As required, manually fill full or partial pallets to satisfy orders.
• Using a barcode scanner and/or other tools to aid in the control of inventory.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Ability to operate a forklift in a safe and efficient manner, proactively avoiding hazards and dangerous situations.
• Ability to physically perform the rigorous physical requirement of filling orders.
• Reasoning ability to problem solve as necessary, maintaining composure in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Work independently in the absence of direct supervision and efficiently carry out assignments.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to understand and communicate both oral and written English. English/Spanish bilingual preferred.
• Basic math skills necessary to carry out the positions, including addition, subtraction, etc.
• Experience in fruit industry shipping procedures preferred.
• Understand and carry out oral and written instructions, including visual diagrams.
• Forklift Driver Certification required – additional training to be provided.

Job Requirements:

• Ability to be flexible in schedule, including necessary overtime and weekend work schedule.
• Ability to work in varied warehouse/manufacturing environments, including exposure to weather elements.
• Ability to communicates via written, verbal, face-to-face, telephone and computer methods.
• Job responsibilities require frequent periods of sitting, standing, walking, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, pulling/pushing objects, climbing, grasping, and reaching.

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires frequent periods of sitting, standing for periods at a time, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs., pulling/pushing objects, squatting/bending, twist, kneel, crawl, climbing ladders, grasping, working in heights, working in small confined spaces and reaching.

Borton & Sons, Inc. is a 12‐month, two‐shift facility which can require occasional and seasonal overtime and added stress at times.
