What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mill Entry Operator position at Borusan Pipe U.S., Inc.?
1. Qualifications:
- Highschool diploma/GED
- 7 years of experience as Welder Operator
- The 7 years of experience must be experience with Butt and MIG welding machine, grinding process to reduce the bad edges, mill forming and cut-off process, manufacturing processes and procedures, flattening test process.
- Manual dexterity required for operating, machinery, hand tools and handheld technical devices.
- Employees must be able to work with a flexible schedule, which may require overtime.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
2. Responsibilities/Activities:
- Assists in repair and replacement of equipment during maintenance shutdowns.
- Communicate with crew to achieve a quality product.
- Assist in changeovers and Mill stops.
- Communicating to Slitter Operator any problems with the condition of the slit.
- Produce good quality buttweld between 2 coils.
- Ensure the welding parameters such as temperature, torch tips, alignment of the torch with the coils, gas supply, copper bar and wire and thickness are always synced according to work order.
- Remove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinders.
- Ensure that edge condition is not damaging when going through the entry station.
- Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter using hand tools.
- Operation monitoring – watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Inspect and adjust crane mechanisms or lifting accessories to prevent malfunctions.
- Inspect cables or grappling devices for wear and install or replace cables, as needed.
- Determine load weights and check them against lifting capacities to prevent overload.
- Load or unload slit coils from slitter to entry, using 20- or 45-ton crane equipment.
- Assist the Entry Helper in all their responsibilities and perform his/her duties when he/she is absent or late.
