What are the responsibilities and job description for the DJ and Music Production Instructor position at Bosbands Incorporated?
The DJ and Music Production Instructor works part time providing private, semi-private, or group DJ or music production instruction to students. Provides music school administrative support, as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities may include the following, but the individual will also be expected to perform all the necessary duties that are customarily performed by a person holding this position.
- Deliver instruction in mixing and scratching on turntables using Bach to Rock’s proprietary curriculum, specific methodology, and Serato
- Deliver instruction in music production using Bach to Rock’s proprietary curriculum and Ableton Live
- Adapt to DJ or Music Production students interested in diverse styles (eg: hip hop, pop, rock, house, oldies etc.)
- Coach DJ students for live performance
- Provide administrative support, as needed
- Manage classroom time effectively to balance student needs and attention
- Moves, sets up and breaks down equipment at the school and school events
- Assists B2R management with customer service and prospect phone calls when needed
- Performs a variety of the school maintenance functions (hang posters and frames on walls, install static clings on windows, etc.) when needed
- Assists with moving furniture, equipment and materials
- Assists in basic repair of minor site equipment and instruments
Other duties may be assigned.
Job Requirements

- Teaching certificate and or degrees in music preferred; those who are currently enrolled in a music degree program will also be considered
- Experience in the subject area may be substituted for degree or licensure
- Must demonstrate an understanding of DJ Mixing, Scratching, or Music Production concepts and be able to communicate those concepts to students effectively
- Must DJ or use Serato at a professional level of competence
- Must be able to receive constructive feedback on teaching techniques and apply the feedback to new teaching situations, and environments
- Must be able to be physically present at B2R for scheduled lessons
- Ability to interact effectively with the public
- Ability to operate basic office equipment, i.e. telephones, photocopiers and computers
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively with staff and management
- Adaptable to changes in the workplace
- Ability to pass a background check
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, additional languages are desirable
- Ability to use all relevant computer software (Microsoft Office, etc) proficiently, and the ability to learn to use B2R’s specialized systems
- Ability to pass a background check

- Ability to work during the company’s normal business hours that includes weekends and evenings
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, travel up and down stairs, crouch, stoop and reach
- Ability to lift and move the equipment typically associated with B2R’s day-to-day operation, e.g., amplifiers, keyboards, recording equipment, light furniture, etc.
- Ability to attend off-site Bach to Rock events during day, nights, and weekends.
