Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Barn Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and farm management, with hands-on experience in animal husbandry and the operation of farm machinery. This role is essential for maintaining the health and well-being of our animals while ensuring efficient farm operations.
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and health monitoring. Unloading grain and stacking hay will be required so you must be able to lift 80 lbs.
- Assist in the management of livestock activities, ensuring proper handling and care of cattle & all other livestock.
- Maintain farm equipment and machinery, performing routine inspections and repairs as needed.
- Operate power tools & machinery (skid steer/tractor) safely for various maintenance tasks around the clinic.
- Grounds upkeep & fence repairs when needed.
- All minor repairs around clinic.
- Implement animal husbandry practices to promote optimal health and productivity.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Accompany Doctors on farm calls to assist in care of animals
Qualifications
- Experience in animal care & handling, knowledge of livestock care is required.
- Familiarity with farm machinery operation and maintenance is required.
- Strong understanding of basic livestock care.
- Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Bilingual a plus but not required.
