BOSS Energy Consulting LTD – Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer
BOSS Energy has been engaged by a leading early-stage deep tech start-up to help them find a Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer to join their team in Southern California. In this role you will provide independent instrumentation and system controls support to the business at both R&D pilot systems as well as overall plant operation.
Responsibilities :
- Design electrical controls and power distribution systems, write and test PLC and HMI programs, evaluate control hardware and systems.
- Program, test, and troubleshoot all control components, including PLCs, safety devices, HMIs, process hardware, and industrial equipment. This includes tasks from initial power-on to debugging, as well as process fine-tuning and validation.
- Lead small and medium sized projects including the control systems studies, master plans, and designs consisting of P&IDs and I&C system specifications.
- Assist Field Commissioning and Service Technicians with start-up and troubleshooting of systems.
- Create / review / modify electrical schematics, drawings, and I / O lists for various electro-mechanical systems to ensure compliance with engineering standards and customer specifications.
- Partner and manage 3rd party vendors supporting automation and controls efforts related to pilot projects.
- Participate as necessary in equipment tests (including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), assembly, installation, and set-up activities to ensure components and systems are conforming to engineering design standards and customer specifications.
- Providing field support for equipment installation, startup, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance.
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree – Master’s – in a relevant Engineering discipline (Electrical, ICSS, Automation etc.).
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in PLC / HMI design and programming for industrial equipment for machine control, design and development of electrical and software systems.
- Proven experience in the integration of automated valves, modulating control valves, flow meters, pressure transmitters, HMI development, variable frequency drives, various industrial sensors, PID loops, and system-level communications with other controllers and subcomponents.
- Must have experience using SCADA.
