POSITION SUMMARY:
Boston Architectural College (BAC) seeks a dynamic and strategic Development & Major Gifts Officer to manage major donor engagement and contribute to our multi-faceted development efforts. Reporting to the VP of Institutional Advancement, this role is a 50/50 blend of frontline fundraising—cultivating and securing significant gifts—and strategic development activity, including prospecting, VIP event coordination, and donor pipeline management. Ideal for a resourceful self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, this position is critical in advancing BAC’s mission of excellence and access in architectural education. Position Seat Specific Key Responsibilities:
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, securing major gifts to support BAC’s strategic initiatives and campaigns (capital and comprehensive). This includes regular donor meetings virtually and in person.
- Identify and qualify new donor prospects, creating tailored engagement strategies in alignment with advancement and institutional leadership.
- Plan, execute, and/or attend high-impact donor events to enhance engagement and stewardship in coordination with Institutional Advancement colleagues, as well as campus and strategic partners.
- Build and maintain development infrastructure and processes— including developing fundraising materials, pipeline management, and prospect research—reporting to and coordinating with leadership.
- Collaborate within and across departments to align fundraising efforts with institutional goals.
- Adapt quickly and initiate in response to emerging opportunities.
- Support other Institutional Advancement priorities as needed such as annual fundraising efforts, events, etc.
Work Schedule and Location Requirements:
- Ability to work weekends and evenings for events as needed.
- This is a hybrid position, coming on site 1 day a week minimum, with the ability to return to campus for events as needed.
- Must have mode of transportation to visit donors.
- Must be able to meet with donors in person regularly with the ability to travel regionally, and to occasionally travel nationally and globally.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
· 5 years of experience in fundraising and major gifts.
· Strong relationship-building, collaborative skills with the ability to engage diverse individuals and groups.
· Strong communications and public speaking skills for primarily small-medium convenings.
· Detail-oriented, while also being a strategic collaborative thinker.
· Experience utilizing CRM systems, Salesforce, Google Platform, and Microsoft Suite.
· Hands-on, adaptable, and eager to contribute as a team player in a small, fast-paced, results-driven team environment.
