Responsibilities
The Production Supervisor position is responsible for on-site supervision of the entire daily production activities from mixing to packing and maintaining all required documentation and production records according to all internal standard operating procedures, company policies and regulatory requirements for food safety. The Production Supervisor will be responsible for fostering a culture of excellence in safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
Essential Functions
- Supervise and lead production/packing personnel directly and through team leaders on each shift including scheduling, development, and performance management.
- Adhere to production schedule and ensure resources are assigned to meet schedule.
- Monitor the day-to-day operations and walk the floor frequently to ensure processes are on schedule, team-members are focused, identify barriers, ensure communication and coordination, and identify any safety hazards.
- Ensure all product and process specification are in control and in compliance with SQF standards.
- Verify all production and inventory records are accurate.
- Support and oversee training and cross training of all personnel to ensure business continuity.
- Maintain and report Key Performance Indicator (KPI) standards (safety, quality, and productivity.)
- Implement Lean and Continuous Improvement processes and tools to enhance KPI’s.
- Collaborate with maintenance, sanitation, quality, R&D, and safety teams for preventative maintenance, repairs, and operation procedures.
- Effectively communicate to team leaders the production priorities, quality standards, and company policies including enforcement.
- Support and implement production/packing, procedures, job aids, and related initiatives as needed.
- Maintain good rapport, and timely open communication with all members of Boston Baking Inc.
- Ensure FIFO (first in first out) inventory process is followed for packaging supplies, ingredients, and finished product.
- Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, seeking opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall operations.
Any other tasks assigned by the Operations Manager.
Required Education and Experience
- Minimum 3 years baking work experience required.
- English and Spanish speaking important
- Knowledge of the baking industry required, and yeast-raised products preferred.
- Production/manufacturing leadership experience and positive people skills required.
- Strong organization, prioritization, communication, teambuilding, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills required.
- Requires experience supervising people and performance metrics required.
- Strong computer and database application skills required.
- Familiarity with manufacturing systems required.
- Skills in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals to generate production reports or data collection.
- Skills in setting priorities and ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
