What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Manager of Institutional Giving position at Boston Baroque?
Boston Baroque welcomes applications for the position of Senior Manager of Institutional Giving. This is a new position for Boston Baroque. As we enter our 52nd season, we are well poised to develop an institutional giving program that reflects the growth that the organization has made in the last four years, and is positioned to make in the years to come.
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Senior Manager of Institutional Giving is a self-starter with foundation and corporate fundraising experience, a polished professional comfortable with both the written and interpersonal aspects of developing an institutional giving program. The Senior Manager of Institutional Giving will be responsible for maintaining the current grant relationships enjoyed by Boston Baroque while doing the research and outreach necessary to expand this program to one that will raise $300,000 in FY2025 (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Research corporations and foundations with which Boston Baroque might qualify for funding
· Oversee all grantwriting initiatives
· Develop relationships with corporations and foundations with which Boston Baroque is a fit
· Work with corporate contacts to tailor sponsorship packages to meet the needs of both the sponsoring organization and Boston Baroque
· Once funding has been secured, steward relationships with institutional funders
· Work with members of Boston Baroque’s Board of Directors in making connections in Boston’s corporate and foundation community
· Carry a small portfolio of major donor prospects
· Attend Boston Baroque performances and events
· Other duties as assigned
CHARACTERISTICS
· Experience working with, and a thorough understanding of, Boston’s philanthropic institutions
· A demonstrated track record in securing corporate and foundation contributions and grants
· The drive and determination to develop an institutional giving program at an exciting moment in Boston Baroque’s history
· A polished demeanor in dealing with high net worth donors and organizational leadership
· Outstanding writing skills
· Knowledge of Baroque and Classical music a plus
· Knowledge of Sales Force / Patron Manager a plus
COMPENSATION, BENEFITS, AND OTHER DETAILS
Salary range: $50,000-$60,000

This is a hybrid role; Boston Baroque staff meets in person one day a week, with additional in-person days added as needed during concert weeks. The remaining days are remote. Attendance is required at all Boston Baroque concerts: two or three performances over one weekend in October, December, January (New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day), March, and April. Attendance is also required at other events: performances by the X-tet, our resident chamber ensemble; Development cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising events; and our annual gala.
