We are seeking a registered Athletic Trainer (ideally dual certified as a physical therapist) for a full-time role that is spilt between the Maine Celtics G-League team and the Boston Celtics. The individual will lead the treating staff for the Maine Celtics G-League team providing player injury assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation, as well as day to day medical management, recovery management, injury prevention and general athletic trainer duties.
You will have the opportunity to coordinate closely with the Maine Celtics Athletic Trainer and Performance Coach as well the Boston Celtics performance staff. The role will be based in Portland, Maine, during the G-league season and then in Boston outside of that. The role will report to the Executive Director of Performance of the Boston Celtics.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with player preparation and testing protocols during off-season and pre-draft workouts
- Provide medical coverage during the Summer League tournament in Las Vegas and for off-season NBA work outs in Boston
- Lead injury assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for the Boston Celtics 2-way players or assignees in Maine
- Work with the Maine Celtics Athletic Trainer to provide all other training needs
- Travel with the Maine Celtics team to all practices and games
- Communicate all key information regarding players to senior staff in both Boston and Maine
- Complete all tasks related to team health and performance as requested
Essential Qualifications:
- Athletic training degree and current registration with N.A.T.A
- At least 2 years’ experience working as an Athletic Trainer or Physical Therapist
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
- Excellent worth ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to connect with medical, performance, technical, equipment, and administration staff
- Ability to work long/flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays and travel
- Ability to work and travel within the United States and Canada
Preferred Qualifications:
- Dual credentialled or working towards such dual credentialling as a Physical Therapist
- Experience with Athlete Management Systems (AMS)
- Experience in NCAA Division I or professional basketball setting
- Experience with sports science technologies such as force plates, and movement tracking devices.
