Position Description
Post Award Manager General Summary
Collaborates with the Senior Director to execute the Clinical Research Finance post-award roadmap, driving enhancements and efficiencies.
Compliance Oversight:
- Oversees quarterly reviews of EMR billing to research accounts, to ensure adherence with federal, state, and local finance regulations in all clinical research activities.
- Ensures general clinical research accounting practices align with contract terms, state, and federal requirements Policy and SOP Development for Clinical Research Finance:
- Develops and updates policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and guidelines to streamline operations and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Enhances efficiency and transparency of post-award processes in collaboration with senior management
- Actively participates in the implementation of new systems (ERP, eRA) and develops best practices, training materials, and guidelines.
- Works with study teams to make sure the robust reporting functionality in EPIC is widely adopted and used
- Ensure clinical research funds are reconciled and closed out in a timely manner.
- Develops relationships with sponsors and CROs to track payments in a timely manner Process Improvement:
- Leads initiatives to improve processes, such as reimbursing ancillary departments for start-up and annual fees.
- Collaborates with the Clinical Research Analyst to develop dashboards for monitoring costs, accounts receivable, and turnaround times.
- Facilitates inter-experimental and inter-institutional collaborations, fostering relationships such as with DFCI CTIP.
- Establishes and maintains collaborations with vendors (e.g., Advarra, Tango, Greenphire, etc.) to support research operations.
Team Development:
- Responsible for performance management of financial analyst staff
- Participates in recruitment, selection, training, and management of staff in alignment with organizational goals.
- Supports staff in skill development, goal setting, and ongoing performance monitoring.
- Bachelor's Degree required Masters Degree preferred in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, and/or Research
- 7-10 years of experience managing business and/or financial aspects of clinical research is required
- 5 years of experience working in clinical research setting at an Academic Medical Center, CRO, or Industry preferred.
