The Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant will be responsible for :
Working closely with the ARFID Director and members of the interdisciplinary team, which includes GI, Nutrition, Psychology, and Social Work. Approximately 50% (3 clinical sessions per week) of time will be spent in direct patient care of children and adolescents with ARFID disorders in our outreach clinics; and the remainder of the role will be focused on patient education, support of our ARFID patients for clinical needs, and support for patients participating in clinical studies.
Functioning with a high level of independence in caring for children and young adults with ARFID.
Clinical responsibilities :
Triaging newly referred cases and second opinions to ARFID; reviewing outside medical records; communicating with referring physicians and new patient families as needed to facilitate referral.
Assessing and treating new and return patients in ambulatory setting, with collaboration of a physician.
Acting as a liaison between the ARFID and inpatient team for hospitalized patients
In collaboration with administrative staff, NP will act as primary communicator for clinical patient questions and phone calls; and assisting with prior authorizations and refill
Providing comprehensive patient education for patients with new diagnoses as well as those starting new treatments.
Programmatic responsibilities
Showing innovation and leadership in developing and recommending policies and procedures to improve the quality, family-centeredness and cost-effectiveness of patient care within ARFID program.
Identifying patient educational needs and developing educational materials.
Planning, organizing and overseeing policies and procedures designed to improve the patient / family experience.
To qualify, you must have...
Graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
Massachusetts NP or PA license.
Strong physical assessment and diagnostic skills as well as patient education, and coordination of care skills.
Ability to travel to outreach locations, as the NP will see patients at Longwood campus as well as our satellite locations including Waltham.
Prior experience with pediatric gastroenterology patients, Psychology and / or Adolescent patients preferred
Schedule : 24 hours, (3) 8 hour days.
