Job Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) to join our Pediatric Endocrinology team at Boston Children's Health Physicians, working with children and adolescents to help manage diabetes. The ideal candidate will bring experience in diabetes education and support, strong interpersonal skills, and a compassionate approach to working with young patients and their families. This role involves direct outpatient education, transitioning to outpatient care at diagnosis, and contributing to community outreach efforts. Salary range will be $54,600-$81,900, negotiable based on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and family-focused diabetes education, including guidance on blood glucose monitoring, nutrition, insulin management, lifestyle modifications, and the use of diabetes technology.
- Collaborate with endocrinologists, pediatric nurses, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust personalized care plans that address the unique needs of pediatric patients.
- Offer continual support and counseling to patients and families, helping them navigate diabetes management and address emotional and lifestyle challenges.
- Maintain accurate records of patient education sessions, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and facility protocols.
- Stay current with diabetes education practices, participating in relevant training, and contributing to department goals and quality improvement.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Certification as a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES).
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Nutrition, or a related field (RN, RD, or equivalent healthcare licensure required).
Preferred:
- Experience with insulin pump therapy, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), and other diabetes technology.
- Bilingual skills (Spanish or other languages commonly spoken in the community)
