About The Opportunity
Marine Operations Interns will serve as an essential part of the operations team by being an important point of contact between the crew and management, assisting in the training and general management of crew and learning about operations. Interns are expected to work safely and to be dynamic in a fast-paced environment. In addition to operational responsibilities, all Interns in the company are expected to participate in learning opportunities, including company-led webinars and completing e-learning leadership development courses. Interns will support the company’s mission of creating amazing experiences for our guest.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Remain true to and champion the RESPECT Service System and Code of Conduct.
- Safety First – Safety shall remain the highest priority at all times.
- Be an active advocate of, and participant in, the City Cruises Safety Culture.
- Learn to monitor passenger & crewmember safety issues on the boat.
- Help port leadership monitor license renewals and crew compliance.
- Learn about crew management, including, but not limited to, scheduling, payroll, and writing up incident reports.
- Ensure that safety equipment is utilized and appropriate guidelines are followed for all tasks involving physical risk or hazardous materials.
- Learn and demonstrate practical knowledge of all phases of shipboard safety procedures and knowledge of the location and use of all firefighting and safety equipment (i.e. fire extinguishers, fire stations, life preservers, work vests, life floats, and rescue boats).
- Participate in meetings, training, drills, and safety audits as required.
- Learn how to identify when vessels need preventative maintenance or construction.
- Additional job duties assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Active enrollment in a Maritime program preferred.
- 1 year onboard vessels as a deckhand on a passenger vessel preferred.
- Valid TWIC Card (preferred) or the ability to obtain one.
- Working knowledge of deck equipment and basic Seamanship skills.
- Strong customer service, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Maintain a high level of organization, detailed oriented and meet deadlines.
- Handle multiple tasks/projects at one time.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by job responsibility.
- Listen effectively, assess the situation, determine relevant issues, & suggest solutions.
- Have a working knowledge of computer skills, including but not limited to proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites.
- Must be able to effectively understand and convey written and verbal information to coworkers and guests.
- Maintain uniform and personal grooming in compliance with appearance standards.
- Will be required to be available for work nights, weekends and on all major holidays.
