This is a provisional appointment.
Under the supervision of the Director of the Boston Regional Intelligence Center (BRIC), the Crime & Intelligence Analyst collects, reviews, collates, analyzes, prepares, and disseminates data and information on incoming investigative requests from field personnel, other public safety organizations, or those from other analysts.
Responsibilities
- Researches various documents, reports, and internet-based material and summarizes results for inclusion in reports and presentations.
- Uses software technologies to include email, word processing, spreadsheet, charting and graphing tools, and presentation programs; navigates Internet websites to include social media; utilizes GIS mapping platforms.
- Communicates and collaborates with colleagues and professional partners via multiple platforms including telephone, email, secure internet / web-based forums, and police radio.
- Contributes summary information to standing and ad hoc reporting.
- Complies with legal, policy, and regulatory requirements and applies sound professional judgment to ensure the protection of confidential information, as well as privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties.
- Provides local context to threat information provided by outside sources, national and international intelligence resources, and partner agencies.
- Creates presentations, bulletins, timelines, and link-analysis diagrams and produces briefing materials to illustrate analytic conclusions and communicate with various levels of management and a broad range of partner audiences.
- Composes and produces professional-quality reports, documents, and products.
- Performs related work as required.
Minimum Entrance Qualifications
Willing to work overtime, weekend, and holiday shifts to support operational demands.
Work Schedule :
The BRIC is staffed on a Day as well as a First-Half shift. The shifts are broken down as follows : Sunday - Thursday from 9 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM and 5 : 00 PM - 1 : 00 AM, Tuesday - Saturday from 9 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM and 5 : 00 PM - 1 : 00 AM, and Thursday - Monday from 5 : 00 PM - 1 : 00 AM. The BRIC also supports police operations outside of the normal work schedule; therefore, the Crime & Intelligence Analyst may be required to work hours in addition to the regular work schedule to include weekends, overnight hours, and Holidays.
CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK IS REQUIRED.
A PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TEST IS REQUIRED.
BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED.
