Job Description
The Food and Nutrition Services Department will be sponsoring the City of Boston's Summer Food Services Program. The goal of the program is to provide nutritious meals to children who are attending various community centers and public/private agency summer programs in the City of Boston. The program will primarily operate Monday through Friday, however, there may be a few Saturday sites. This position is required to work the duration of the Summer Program; as needed. Mandatory training will be provided.
Terms:
Stipend: $30.00 per hour, 8 hours a day
Schedule: Regular workday shift is from 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Mileage Reimbursement: Mileage will be reimbursed .67 cents per mile for travel between sites, based upon completed mileage form and subject to the conditions of the BPS mileage reimbursement policy.
Reports to: Field Coordinator
Responsibilities: Ensures that site personnel maintain accurate records and that the program operates in accordance with the Federal and State requirements pertaining to the Summer Food Service Program Regulations.
- Complete site reviews; as required
- Visit each site at least once weekly
- Provide training to staff to ensure accuracy of documentation
- Pick up and check the accuracy of paperwork from each site weekly
- Evaluate site staff for performance and recommend change, as indicated
- Review site paperwork for accuracy before submission to DESE
- Prepare reports of visits and reviews of foodservice operations
- Attend weekly meetings to report findings
- Ensure proper handling and storage of food
- Ensure equipment is in working order and request repair, if indicated
- Field monitors may be required to transfer supplies from Central Warehouse or alternate site; if needed
Qualifications Required:
- Food Safety or Food Handler Certification
- Required to attend mandatory training
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must have good math skills
- Valid driver's license
- Must have reliable automobile
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Dependability
- Must be willing to travel to and be familiar with City of Boston schools and neighborhoods
- Must have good attendance and evaluations
Preferred:
- College Degree
- Supervisory experience
- Familiarity with education and recreation programs for children in an urban setting
- Prior experience as a monitor, manager or inspector in the Food Service industry.
