OVERVIEW OF BOSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS:

Founded in 1647, Boston Public Schools (BPS) is the oldest public school district in the country. As the birthplace of America’s public education system, BPS has a long, rich tradition and commitment to education. We are a leader in urban education. BPS has been recognized nationally for programs and initiatives such as universal preschool, early childhood education, equitable school-based funding formula, and policy specifically focused on creating greater racial equity to name a few. Boston Public Schools is committed to transforming the lives of all children through exemplary teaching in a world-class system of innovative, welcoming schools. We partner with the community, families, and students to develop in every learner the knowledge, skill, and character to excel in college, career, and life.

In order to best serve our students, schools and families, BPS is seeking MTEL Case Managers to

to help mitigate teacher shortages by assisting educators on waivers with the licensure process, with the goal of improving retention in the District overall. This is important because research points to two complementary findings: retention is a persistent issue in urban school districts and students tend to have better learning outcomes when they have experienced teachers with whom they build trusting relationships.

Ideal candidates for this position will have excellent people skills, a proficiency with data, an open stance to learning and accepting feedback, and a combined skill set of attention to detail and creative problem solving skills.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The MTEL Case Manager will track educator progress in obtaining appropriate licensure and works with both school leaders and individual educators to assign appropriate supports.

The MTEL Case Manager will stay current on any policy changes impacting these areas and will advise on strategic changes required. The MTEL Case Manager will support individual educators, school leaders, and district administrators with their expertise as required.
