What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025 Grounds Crew Staff position at Boston Red Sox?
DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
The Boston Red Sox Grounds Department is focused on providing a safe, playable, and aesthetically pleasing playing surface, as well as the successful execution of numerous non- baseball events to the highest professional standard.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Grounds Crew team at Fenway Park is adding new seasonal members to the team. This is an opportunity to work on the field at America’s Most Beloved Ballpark. This opportunity is perfect for applicants who enjoy being outside, working on a team, and have a passion for baseball. Members of the Grounds Crew will work Red Sox games, non-baseball events, concerts, and daily field maintenance on non-game days.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepping the field for Red Sox games and various events.
- Infield skin, mound, plate, bullpen, and waring track maintenance.
- Resurfacing the infield skin during games in between innings.
- Collaborating with other crew members to pull the tarp for inclement weather.
- Setting up and breaking down batting practice screens and equipment.
- Hand watering, aeration, mowing of the grass.
- Assist in set up and break down of extra event work including concerts, football, hockey, softball, and others.
- Cleaning and organization of Grounds Crew areas.
- Other duties assigned by management.
CHARACTERISTICS / QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Prepping the field for Red Sox Games and various events.
- Resurfacing the infield skim in between innings during games.
- Maintenance of the infield skin, mound, plate, bullpens, and warning track.
- Ability to work nights, weekend, holidays, game, and non-game days. The standard shift is the entirety of an event, including pre-and post -game/event activities.
- Works quickly under pressure active listener.
- Interact professionally with staff, supervisors, and any fan at the ballpark.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to lift, carry and transport items in excess of 50 pounds while running.
