Summary: The Literacy Curriculum Coordinator leads and supports all K1-2 staff in the implementation of the BRCPS Lower School Literacy Plan. The Literacy Curriculum Coordinator collaborates, and works closely with the Lower School Director, Assistant Director, Instructional Coaches, Data & Assessment Coordinator and Literacy Teachers to ensure equity and access of all programs, standards, indicators of success, and benchmarks to guide instructional decisions. The Literacy Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for the management of materials, which includes ordering, tracking, and distribution. Professional Responsibilities: Strategic Planning and Development Serve as team member for all initiatives and curricula related to ELA Plan and organize New Teacher Orientation and August Professional Development sessions for all staff Tracking of school-wide ELA professional development Working with outside Professional Development organizations to organize sessions, dates, and logistics Facilitate grade level initiatives and professional development Organizing literacy learning walks to monitor and support implementation of curricula and make note of development needs Leading and Managing Staff: Continuous evaluation of the literacy programs and curricula Supervise and evaluate Reading Specialists and Reading Support Teachers Work with Directors, Assistant Directors and Instructional Coaches to organize support for teachers to include: leading some grade level team meetings, collaborating with content leads, routine content implementation coaching and mastery-oriented feedback to instructional staff Collaborate with grade level teachers around Literacy Block and WIN structures Curriculum Responsibilities: Continuously plan and implement ELA Common Core State Standards Facilitate Literacy adoption implementation or curriculum reviews Order, disseminate, and track all ELA curriculum materials Organize grade level programs and interventions Monitor and update pacing guides Data Analyses: Organize and plan assessment cycles- iReady, Aimsweb, curriculum based measures, interventions, formal and informal classroom assessments/data collection Organize and participate in data meetings- team and individual Observe implementation of action plans and give feedback Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree (Required) Master’s Degree (Preferred) MA Professional License Certification as Literacy Specialist/Curriculum Coordinator preferred Experience working or teaching in a urban school district Strong leadership qualities and facilitation skills Experience working with teachers to improve practice Experience in data analyses Experience in preparing model lessons, observing teachers, or providing non-evaluative feedback Strong organizational skills
