Summary: Exercise prudence in carrying out the assigned duties and must be able to report any difficulties or unusual problems to the teachers and other school personnel. Responsible for proper supervision at recess, whether indoor or outdoor and must be physically capable of prolonged standing, walking and stooping. Major Responsibilities: Assists in organizing activities and games during recess for various student(s)/groups, as assigned May direct students in gathering materials, games, balls, or other items to be used during the activities. Ensures that items are returned to their proper location after use Gives special attention to safety factors when weather or other circumstances occur Immediately reports any injury or unusual problems to the professional staff Positive communication/interactions with students recess Provides encouragement to students during all activities by staying in a reasonable proximity to the surrounding areas Restricting students from roughhousing, horseplay or other inappropriate behavior Dismisses classes in an orderly manner at the scheduled time Checking the playground daily, and appropriately addressing ground and equipment hazards Responding appropriately to emergencies Additional duties may be assigned without additional compensation or stipend Qualifications: High school diploma or Equivalency One year of experience preferred Must be capable of extensive walking, standing, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 40 pounds independently Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations
