POSITION: Assistant Retail District Manager

DEPARTMENT: Retail/Management

REPORTS TO: Retail District Manager

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SUMMARY

Assists with management of the operations and activities of all district stores and staff; works closely with Retail District Manager in making decisions that contribute to the stores’ success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITES

· Assists with supervision of store staff, providing high-quality customer service and maintaining merchandising and cleanliness standards at all locations.

· Ensures that staff is fully trained and has a full knowledge of all products.

· Works with Retail District Manager to develop creative plans to increase store sales.

· Works with Retail District Manager on developing relationships in the community surrounding each location in a way that is meaningful for the community and in the best interest of the retail location.

· Supports an inspirational and growth-enabled environment for staff and fosters a positive company philosophy, effectively leading and motivating staff members to accomplish the mission of Boston Stoker.

· Assists with communicating strategies and priorities to store teams in a clear, concise manner.

· Works with Retail District Manager to ensure operational procedures are complete, correct and available to all staff members. Identifies areas for improvement and works diligently to improve as needed.

· Identifies and communicates trends and ideas to maximize business opportunities.

· Ensures all company policies, procedures, and guidelines are consistently followed.

· Assists with completing inventory audits at each store on a regularly scheduled basis.

· Assists in building a high-quality brand image at all retail locations through oversight of merchandising and general store upkeep.

· Assists with hiring, training, supervision, motivation, and development of store staff; assists with scheduling and workflow.

· Functions as primary point of contact for district scheduling issues. This includes review of communication related to coverage and flagging unresolved issues to district manager as they arise.

· Maintains working relationships with vendors (including the Boston Stoker Roastery) to understand and communicate issues related to order flow, discrepancy reporting and any other item that may arise affecting operations at the retail locations.

· Assists with implementing safety and shrink best practices

· Assists with ensuring all kitchen and food and beverage operations are in compliance with all legislated health and licensing guidelines; ensures adherence to all health and safety regulations and procedures.

· Responds to emergency calls from all retail operations and works to resolve issues. May require on call response depending on situation. Reaches out to ownership for direction if needed.

· Works closely with Retail District Manager to provide support where needed to ensure smooth operations of all locations within district. Includes working behind the bar as needed to support operations.

· Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES

· Directly supervises all employees within the assigned locations

· Responsible to build and lead a support team within the district

· Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

· Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITIES

· Two to four years related experience or equivalent.

· Knowledge of retail operations, human resources, and shrink reduction plans.

· Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates

· Commitment to excellence and high standards

· Basic competence in subordinates’ duties and tasks

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Moderate physical effort may be required to lift a maximum of 50 pounds to shoulder height. Requires the

ability to stand on feet the majority of shift and to walk, carry materials, kneel, stoop, and bend/twist at waist, climb a ladder up to 5 feet off the ground, manually operate food service equipment, and the continual use of hands.
