Reporting to the Director of Donor Relations, the Associate Director, Donor Relations will partner to develop the Development Team’s donor relations engagement strategy and manage its execution. In concert with the Chief Development Officer and Director of Donor Relations, the Associate Director of Donor Relations will partner with all areas within Development and across the organization to determine the best strategies for effective stewardship of donors through recognition, benefit fulfillment, engagement, donor events, gift acceptance and acknowledgement, and reporting. In this collaborative role, the Associate Director of Donor Relations will be a driving force in inspiring, thanking, and engaging our generous donors as well as keeping stewardship top of mind for colleagues across the organization.
Job Responsibilities
- In collaboration with the Chief Development Officer and Director of Donor Services, design, document, and implement an integrated donor relations program that encompasses stewardship reports, gift agreements, acknowledgements, communications, donor recognition lists, event/dedications, plaque installations, and the naming of spaces, positions, and programs.
- With the Director of Donor Relations and Development Operations team, strategize and implement a method for tracking donor relations plans and information in Tessitura, our patron and ticketing database.
- With the Director of Development Communications, develop a communications strategy for the Donor Relations team including fund reports, impact statements, recognition lists, annual report, among others. Overseer the creation of donor lists for program books, annual reports, and other communications opportunities. Coordinate with Development Operations team as needed on any customized gift acknowledgments.
- Streamline and manage information tracking processes regarding naming opportunities, plaquing, special acknowledgments, and any other donor recognition. Develop, document, and assess policies and procedures across the organization. Maintain a detailed and timely inventory of naming opportunities and track deferred recognition. Work with the Chief Development Officer and Director of Donor Relations to develop standards for recognition gifts and event dedications.
- Identify opportunities and execute plans for increased donor recognition and stewardship engagement.
- Occasionally represent the Donor Relations team by staffing select concerts and events, opportunities would require travel as well as nights and weekends.
- Other related duties as specified by the Chief Development Officer and Director of Donor Relations.
Required Education and Experience
- College degree or equivalent work experience.
- 5 years of experience required.
- Prior work experience with stewardship or donor relations preferred.
- Experience and/or interest in the arts or music preferred.
Skills
- Superior time and project management skills with strong attention to detail, consistent communication across constituents, and passion to improve the donor experience.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to engage professionally with colleagues and constituents of all levels including board members, donors, musicians, artistic guests, senior management, and the public.
- Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and relational databases. Experience with Tessitura or a similar CRM database is a plus.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds and commitment to cultural competency.
