About the Role
The Boston Symphony Orchestra is seeking driven individuals to join the Event Services team at Tanglewood (Lenox, MA) as seasonal Event Set Up Assistants. Venue and Event Services provide the necessary equipment, set up, and services to ensure that events at Tanglewood are successful, and are a reflection of the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s standards. Work is performed in a variety of outdoor and indoor settings and in all types of weather conditions. These conditions can change quickly and require a range of apparel to maintain comfort and protection.
Job Responsibilities
- Set up/breakdown of all events on Tanglewood Grounds, including dining service, galas, weddings, backstage catering, private parties, internal events, Yoga on the lawn and various other activities.
- Move, set up, and store tables and chairs, garbage barrels, pop-up tent canopies, audio and video equipment, and other pieces of equipment.
- Breakdown / move set ups as needed during events based on client needs.
- Drive utility carts for the transport of equipment and passenger carts for guests.
Required Education and Experience
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Detail oriented and conscientious.
- Able to work a flexible schedule.
- Must be available weekends; some overtime required.
- Driver's license and knowledge of driving laws.
- Housing not provided.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting and carrying objects of varying weight (50-100 lbs.).
- Standing or walking (sometimes backwards) for extended periods.
- Sitting for durations.
- Reaching overhead, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs, pushing or pulling heavy items.
- Fine motor skills (hand dexterity).
- Visual acuity (near and far vision) and hearing ability depending on the job needs.
