The Civil Rights and Title IX Intake Coordinator is a key position in the EOO and is dedicated to the prompt, compassionate, and trauma-informed response to all reports received by the office.

Key Responsibilities :

  • From conducting intake / initial assessment meetings to communicating possible courses of resolution, this role is responsible for providing University support resources and resolution options. As an office, we strive to ensure a community-centered approach to our work, and this position is responsible for connecting students and employees to available resources, including confidential resources.
  • This position will also serve a key role in developing curriculum and delivering trainings and workshops on issues of bias, discrimination, harassment, and sexual violence, aimed at effectively engaging a diverse audience in partnership with the Director of Intake and Training, and Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
  • This role will aid in activities relating to Title IX and Title VII legislation, regulations, and other matters under the responsibility of the EOO, including conducting assessments and supporting investigations into reports of harassment, discrimination, and sexual misconduct against faculty, staff, affiliates, and non-affiliates at Boston University.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of transferable experience.
  • Experience with problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to meeting the needs of individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Ability to remain neutral and objective while handling highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion and compassion.
  • High level of personal and professional ethics.
  • Experience collecting information in a way that is both efficient and people oriented (i.e., trauma informed and supportive).
  • Well-developed oral and written language skills to facilitate clear communication.
  • Ability to draft thorough and detailed reports by applying logical reasoning to assess complex information.
  • Ability to act both independently and collaboratively and to exercise sound judgment.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage time and tasks effectively, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain detailed records.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply University policies as well as a general understanding of Title IX, Title VII, and the ADA.
  • Openness to receiving and giving feedback and suggestions from / to other team members in service of ongoing improvement and learning.
