Role Description
This is a full-time role for an Estimator at Boston Valley Terra Cotta's reporting to/or location in Orchard Park, NY. The Estimator will be responsible for day-to-day tasks such as analyzing project specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, preparing cost estimates, and working closely with the sales and production teams. The Estimator will also collaborate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely project estimates.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the development and maintenance of company standards and resources for quantity take off and estimating services.
- Facilitate effective communication and efficient resource deployment within estimating as well as with the sales department.
- Organize bid information by deciphering blueprints, reading, and understanding specifications, and examining photos, sketches, and other information necessary to determine accurate costs.
- Write cover letters and appropriate change orders.
- Meet deadlines for submitting bids.
- Catalog and disseminate information gathered from estimating and fieldwork.
Qualifications
- Experience in estimating or cost analysis for construction projects.
- Knowledge of architectural terra cotta or related building materials.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Proficiency in reading and deciphering blueprints and interpreting project specifications and drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and possess the ability to organize large amounts of information into a coherent meaningful format.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- BS/BA in Construction Management or Engineering Technology preferred or minimum 3-5 years equivalent experience.
