What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mold Repair Technician Night Shift position at Boston Whaler?
- This position repairs molds in accordance with Boston Whaler specifications.
- Performs daily mold repair functions such as fixing cracks, imperfections, replacing and fixing hardware and mold maintenance to prevent sticking.
- Proper use and maintenance of all tools and equipment to include, spray guns, hand and power tools, sanders, and buffers.
Proper documentation of all mold repairs performed.
- Proper use and maintenance of all hand and power tools.
Proper use and disposal of all chemicals.
Ensuring molds are repaired in accordance with proper procedures.
Spraying gelcoat, pasting and painting patches.
- Wet and dry sanding of patches and other repairs made.
- Fixing, Adjusting and adding Hardware to molds such as toggles, casters, airlinges, air toggles, line-up pins and rotating pins, in accordance with specifications.
- Cleaning, buffing and waxing molds.
Making sure all work is performed in a safe manner.
- May perform other duties as necessary.
Physical Requirements
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements will include eye protection, dust masks, respirators, hearing protection, gloves, and protective suits
- Ability to work a 10 hour shift standing, bending, reaching
- Moderate lifting ability up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment (may be above 100 ambient degrees or below 10 ambient degrees in areas of production)
- Ability to work in a fiberglass dust environment and a fast paced, noisy environment
- Ability to work overtime (planned and unplanned)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Must follow all safety and quality standards at all times, including chemical handling standards and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Must have 2 years of experience in finishing, pasting and painting, wet/dry sanding, lamination, and gelcoat
- At least 1 year of experience reading blueprints
- Previous experience fixing, and adjusting hardware on molds preferred.
- Experience using a variety of hand and pneumatic tools
- Basic skills in forklift, overhead hoist, and computer skills preferred
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions
- Ability to work with fellow coworkers in close proximity and in a team environment displaying mutual respect
- Ability to fluently speak, read, understand, and write English
Shift: This position could be for night shift - Monday - Thursday 3:00pm - 1:30 am. Overtime frequently required based on business needs. Boston Whaler reserves the right to adjust shifts and times as business needs arise.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
