We seek an experienced individual with Civil Engineering experience for the position of Technical Writer to join our Proposal Team at our headquarters in South Hackensack, NJ. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing and editing technical documents related to civil engineering projects.
The Technical Writer will work independently and collaboratively with the proposal team, project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure final products are clearly aligned with project objectives, client requirements, client needs, and industry standards.
Responsibilities:
- Develop Technical Documentation and Proposals: Develop, write, and edit comprehensive technical documentation, including civil engineering proposals and reports, in response to RFQ and RFP related to State Agencies, municipal and public works projects. Technical accuracy and clarity in all documents are paramount.
- Collaborate with Proposal Team: Work closely with Boswell's Proposal Team to review and finalize all documents needed to submit proposals to clients.
- Collaborate with cross-function Engineers: Work closely with Boswell's civil and structural engineers to gather and translate technical data into clear, effective, impactful, and well-structured documents for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Monitor Deadlines: Monitor schedules and timelines for document development and proposal submission, ensuring all deadlines are met according to requirements and objectives.
- Engage with Stakeholders: Participate in meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders, gathering feedback to refine and improve technical content.
- Manage Content: Maintain and organize a repository of technical content, including past proposals, engineering reports, templates, and industry-related information.
- Develop Graphics and Layouts: Prepare and incorporate graphic layouts, edit images, and utilize relevant diagrams, charts, and visuals to enhance the clarity and quality of technical content.
- Editing and Proofreading: Review and proofread technical documents for accuracy, consistency, and clarity, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and client expectations.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree preferably in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering, construction, or public agencies, preferably within civil engineering or a similar industry.
Required Skills:
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction processes, and public works projects.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
- Collaboration Skills: Ability to work in a team by collaborating and communicating effectively with cross-functional colleagues.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring technical accuracy and clarity in all written content.
Preferred Skills:
- NY and NJ Public Authorities RFP Processes: Familiarity with NJDOT, NYDOT, NYNJ Port Authority, NJ Turnpike Authority, and NY Thruway Authority Request for Proposal (RFP) processes.
- Entry-Level Graphic Design Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple proposals and documents and meet tight deadlines.
