GUEST SERVICES ASSOCIATE
Botanica, The Wichita Gardens is a botanical garden located in the Riverside neighborhood of Wichita, KS. Botanica opened in 1987 and hosts thousands of guests each year who visit for regular garden displays and major events including the annual tulip display and holiday lights. The gardens total 20 developed acres with more land to expand in the future. As a nonprofit organization, Botanica depends on support from donors, sponsors, and volunteers with whom employees and the public interact frequently.
This is a non-exempt, part-time position with the ability to accrue paid time off from the first day of employment, usable after 6 months. Flexible daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday work can be expected.
Position pays $12 per hour depending on qualifications.
A Guest Services Associate is hospitality-minded with a goal to ensure that guests have an excellent experience at Botanica. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: concession stand and activity area attendants, assisting at special events, supporting field trips, assisting with event display installation/destination, helping families participate in activity areas, and helping direct guests in the garden. This job is great for someone with a flexible daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday schedule. We work with our team members' school, work, and family schedules to be as flexible as we ask them to be.
- Provide excellent guest service as concession stand attendant and activity area support
- Prepare and lead engaging activities
- Collaborate in groups of people
- Help with seasonal projects
- Be present to assist with specific events/rentals
- Caretaking of property, specifically family activities areas
- Familiarizes themselves with the gardens and frequently asked questions
- Assist with event display installation/destination
- Greeting visitors, scanning tickets, gift shop attendant, supporting front desk team, and answering phones
- Exceptional guest service skills
- Proactive thinker
- Follow verbal and written instructions and exercise good judgment
- Communicate effectively
- Work outdoors when inclement weather conditions exist
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Cultivate positive relationships with staff, volunteers and guests
- Flexible schedule (daytime/weekend/evening/summer/holiday availability)
- Stand/walk for long periods of time (typical shifts are between 4 and 6 hours)
- Previous experience in customer service is required
- Experience in related fields such as working with children and families in an education, event, or cultural attraction setting strongly preferred
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.
- Must be 16 years of age or older
