JOB TITLE: Healthcare Technician

JOB SUMMARY:
Healthcare Technician must have the skill and knowledge to provide population specific care. He/She must have the ability to assist with the collection of data for objective assessment, and to identify the needs and requirements of the patient and report to the charge nurse/team leader. He/She will also coordinate with the health care team to take patients from their rooms to various locations for X-rays, scans, surgery and other medical tests. Healthcare Technicians will assist with other duties as assigned
The Healthcare Technician reports directly to Patient Care Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education:
a.) High school graduate, or equivalent, preferred.
2. Licensure/Certification:
a.) Completion of Health Care Technician course at BRHC upon hire.
b.) Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required/ or attend first offered BLS class upon hire to obtain certification.
3. Work Experience:
a.) Experience as nurse aide or orderly preferred.
b.) On-the-job training will be provided.
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES:
1. Ensure self-compliance with regulatory and government standards of care.
2. Demonstrate the knowledge and skill to perform direct personal care of the
patient.
3. Hold self-accountable and responsible for work performance and continuous
improvement of patient care in his/her work area and throughout hospital.
4. Organize care and prioritize it by communicating and collaborating with others
for a multidisciplinary approach to provide a continuity of care.
5. Ensure the satisfactory completion of personal care for patient and family.
6. Transports patients safely to designated areas in a punctual and timely manner.
7. Assists and positions patients in and out of beds, chairs, and vehicles to prepare for transport. Assist with patient robing and disrobing.
8. Transports medical equipment supplies and laboratory specimens to designated treatment, diagnostic and patient care areas.
9. Clean rooms and equipment as requested.
10. Round in patient reception areas, update patients of wait times, offer warm blankets, etc.
11. Comfort patients and their families by offering support and encouragement; being punctual and attentive to procedure schedules; demonstrate caring and cultural sensitivity.
12. Provide support as a Nurse Assistant and Constant Observer as needed.
13. Other duties as assigned.
